What is a Tech Pack?

It includes everything a factory needs to produce your product - flat sketches, measurements, construction details, fabric and trim specifications, colorways, grading, and more. It's the blueprint for your garment. Our team creates professional, production-ready tech packs based on the details and references you provide.

Can I create my own tech pack on ONTHEBIAS?

Yes! ONTHEBIASTUDIO's Tech Packs Studio includes a self-serve library of professional tech pack templates, flat sketch templates, construction detail references, measurement charts, and other design assets that you can download and use to build your own production-ready tech pack. This is available to Designer and Professional subscribers as part of the asset library. If you'd rather have our team create one for you from scratch, you can submit a Tech Pack request (3 credits) through the platform.

What's the difference between using the Tech Packs Studio and submitting a Tech Pack request?

The Tech Packs Studio in ONTHEBIASTUDIO is self-serve - you download templates and assets and build the tech pack yourself. This is ideal if you have technical design experience or want full control over the document. A Tech Pack request (3 credits) is a done-for-you service where our team creates a complete, custom tech pack based on your design details, sketches, and specifications. If you're not comfortable building a tech pack on your own or want professional output without the hands-on work, the service request is the way to go.

How much does a Tech Pack request cost?

Tech Pack requests cost 3 service credits for Designer and Professional plan subscribers. If you don't have a subscription, you can purchase a-la-carte Tech Pack credits from the Credits page. Designer subscribers (10 credits/month) can submit up to 3 tech pack requests per billing period. Professional subscribers (30 credits/month) can submit up to 10.

What information do I need to provide?

Preferred file types (you can select multiple formats you want the tech pack delivered in)
Requested pages (you can select which specific sections you need in your tech pack)

What are "requested pages"?

Tech packs can include many different sections depending on your needs. The form lets you select which pages you want included - for example, flat sketches, construction details, measurements/grading, bill of materials, colorway pages, artwork placement, label/packaging specs, and more. You can also specify custom page types if you need something not listed.

What file formats can I receive my tech pack in?

The form includes checkboxes for preferred file types so you can select the formats you need - such as PDF, Adobe Illustrator (.ai), or others. If the format you need isn't listed, there's a field to specify a custom file type. We'll deliver your tech pack in whatever format works best for you and your manufacturer.

What files can I upload with my request?

The Tech Pack form has four separate upload fields — more than any other service request:
Sketches — your design sketches, flat drawings, or illustrations
Documents — existing tech packs, PDFs, spec sheets, or reference documents
Colorway images — swatches, Pantone references, or color inspiration
Artwork — graphics, prints, logos, or embroidery artwork to be placed on the garment

The more visual references you provide, the more accurate your tech pack will be. If you've been working with templates from the Tech Packs Studio in ONTHEBIASTUDIO, you can upload your in-progress work as a reference for our team to build from.

Do I need to already have sketches or designs?

Accepted Answer

Having sketches or design references helps us create a more accurate tech pack, but they're not strictly required. You can describe your design in the style description field and upload inspiration images instead. That said, the more specific your references are, the closer the final tech pack will be to your vision. If you need help with the design itself, consider submitting a Design Request (2 credits) first, or using Design-to-Delivery (16 credits) for the full end-to-end process. You can also use the flat sketch templates and design assets available in ONTHEBIASTUDIO to create your own reference sketches before submitting.

What if I have a large number of styles that need tech packs?

If you're looking to create tech packs for a full collection - say 20, 50, 80+ styles - you have two options. For a hands-on approach, you can use the tech pack templates in ONTHEBIASTUDIO's Tech Packs Studio to build them yourself at your own pace. If you'd rather have our team handle it, submitting individual requests at 3 credits each may not be the most efficient approach at that volume - reach out to us directly and we'll put together a custom package based on your collection size, complexity, and timeline. What happens after I submit my request?

Your credits are debited immediately, and you'll receive a confirmation email summarizing your request details (garment title, requested file types, requested pages, sample size, and delivery date). Our team also receives an internal notification with your full submission. Your request status is set to "Pending" and you can track it anytime from the My Requests page.

Can I request revisions to my tech pack?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Once your tech pack is delivered, you can request revisions through the My Requests page. Each revision costs 1 service credit (for subscribers) or 1 revision credit (a-la-carte). You can upload additional sketches, documents, and reference images along with your revision notes. Note: revisions cover changes to the tech pack our team created for you. If you're requesting changes from a manufacturer based on the tech pack (like sample corrections), that's between you and your factory - no ONTHEBIAS credits needed.

How is a Tech Pack request different from Design-to-Delivery?

A Tech Pack request (3 credits) focuses specifically on creating the technical package document for your garment - the specs, measurements, construction details, and production-ready files. Design-to-Delivery (16 credits) is the full end-to-end service that includes design, tech pack creation, pattern making, supplier matching, and production management all bundled together. If you already have your design finalized and just need the tech pack created, the Tech Pack request is the right choice.

Can I submit a tech pack request for multiple styles at once?

Each Tech Pack request covers one garment/style. If you need tech packs for multiple styles, you'll submit a separate request for each one (3 credits each).

Do I need to be logged in?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You must be logged in to your ONTHEBIAS account to access the Tech Pack request form and submit a request.

Where can I check my remaining credits?

Accepted Answer

Your current credit balance is displayed at the top of the Tech Pack request page. You can also view all your balances on the Credits page or in ONTHEBIASTUDIO. For subscribers, the display shows your total service credits and how many Tech Pack requests that covers at 3 credits each.
